Environment > A Flood of Biblical Inconvenient Truthical Proportions

Dave Lindorff in the Baltimore Chronicle - Global Warming Will Save America from the Right...Eventually:

So the future political map of America is likely to look as different as the much shrunken geographical map, with much of the so-called “red” state region either gone or depopulated.

There is a poetic justice to this of course. It is conservatives who are giving us the candidates who steadfastly refuse to have the nation take steps that could slow the pace of climate change, so it is appropriate that they should bear the brunt of its impact.

The important thing is that we, on the higher ground both actually and figuratively, need to remember that, when they begin their historic migration from their doomed regions, we not give them the keys to the city. They certainly should be offered assistance in their time of need, but we need to keep a firm grip on our political systems, making sure that these guilty throngs who allowed the world to go to hell are gerrymandered into political impotence in their new homes.

There will be much work to be done to help the earth and its residents—human and non-human—survive this man-made catastrophe, and we can’t have these future refugee troglodytes, should their personal disasters still fail to make them recognize reality, mucking things up again.

It should be considered acceptable, in this stifling new world, to say, “Shut up. We told you this would happen.”

I'm so glad this guy is looking on the bright side. Sure, he believes that global warming may ravage the planet, but if it kills just 1 million red staters won't it all be worth it?

Silly pothead still smokin' up a storm, hasn't he seen what the flood-maps supposedly indicate? An underwater Bay Area is a big loss for the Left - when Owsley is gone who's gonna supply the acid for their kool-aid?

My first thought was 'cool, beach party at my house.'

The area that will by completely inundated by the rising ocean—and not in a century but in the lifetime of my two cats—are the American southeast...
And not only does he say these things, he says they will happen in the lifetime of his two cats, which means in less than 15 years! I saw this earlier and couldn't believe the craziness. Posted by: Craig T. at December 28, 2007

Must have the good stuff in Baltimore.

"The important thing is that we, on the higher ground both actually and figuratively"

LOL! Talk about smug... and wrong, on both counts.

Hey Dave, how high above sea level is Maryland? While you're floating around in your rubber duckie I'm gonna be comfortably feet dry and well fed here in "red state" Wyoming.

"I'm so glad this guy is looking on the bright side. Sure, he believes that global warming may ravage the planet, but if it kills just 1 million red staters won't it all be worth it?"

You're sure setting a great example of how you libs are supposedly all caring for people Les. As much as I hate libs like you I would never consider the death of any libs for any reason "to be worth it".

Cactus Jack: you need to have your sarcasm detector checked.

Posted by: Les Jones at December 28, 2007

I can only wish that the great state of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts gets swept away and I am living it warmer climates by then.

"Cactus Jack: you need to have your sarcasm detector checked."

I was'nt being sarcastic to you Les, I was pointing out a common trend among libs that you set a glittering example of. A total hatred of anyone who is'nt like you. You might recognize the word that covers this and, maybe, what it means; bigot.

And please dont insult my intelligence by saying that you, and others like you, would'nt be screaming like hell about what lowlives we were if one of us "red staters" got all gleeful about the idea of millions of "blue state" libs dying.

BTW, I'm not angry about your statement, I'm glad you posted it because it shows us what kind of person you are. See the last word in the 1st paragraph if you arn't sure what you made yourself out to be.

Posted by: Cactus Jack at December 29, 2007

No, really, Cactus Jack. You need to check your sarcasm detector. You still don' get it. I was making fun of the guy who wrote that.

Feel free to believe otherwise, but all of the other folks who commented - people who read my blog regularly - will tell you you're wrong.

Les is a lib? When in the heck did that happen?

Cactus Jack, Les is not a lib. Trust me.

Posted by: Number9 at December 29, 2007

Les is no lib, but Cactus Jack is definitely a Republican.

I should just let this crap roll off of my back and laugh about the whole thing.

I should be a big person and let the whole thing go.

I shouldn't pay him any more attention than a spoiled child throwing a temper tantrum.

I can't.

I simply look at the attitude that is on display in his article and I can see that he has more than derision on his mind, he has more than a snear at us "Red-Staters", he has only ONE thought on his mind, and that is rage.

He is most certainly of the opinion that passing whatever law he, or no doubt Al Gore, finds acceptable, if it means "controlling" us "Conservatives" (,or "Fundies" or whatever other label that he and his ilk can think up,) is just A-OK. He views it as just the way of things and that "leadership" is somehow his right, and an outright cleansing is in order.

Go read the article again and see if there isn't more than just a hint at that.

It's excrement like that guy who'll end up being made examples of when and if the whole JBT raids start, if he ever gets to make policy in this country.

My contempt grows.

How come we haven't uncovered any of the cars and factories the dinosaurs used during the last several episodes of global warming (followed by global cooling)? Human arrogance concludes that we are powerful enough to destroy a planet that has been around thousands of years longer than us. (Billions of years, depending on how look at time-dilation in an expanding universe. But more on that later.)

We are no more responsible for this current warming trend then we are for the movement of the planets. Maybe everyone's flocking after Algore out of sympathy because they believe the election was stolen from him. (It wasn't. We have an Electoral College for a reason.)

And since when is the air we exhale a pollutant?! Maybe if all the libs stopped breathing, CO2 emissions would drop drastically. It's simple. We breathe out CO2 and God gave us trees that scrub that CO2 out of the atmosphere and convert it in O2 for us to breathe in.

A while back (too long for any libs to really care, the country we call Greenland (which is now COVERED in ice) used to be a temperate climate! People used to live and farm there! Then we had an Ice Age and now look at it. Who's to say that our current climate is where Earth is supposed to be? Our climate is CONSTANTLY in flux!

I've heard one theory that if the Polar Ice Caps melted, Earth would cease to be tilted on it's axis and we would have a GLOBAL temperate climate ! Now THAT I would LOVE to see. But enough of my rant.
