I liked this Slashdot comment: They went from 3.11, to year-based (98), to cheesy acronyms (ME), to acronyms containing the Mighty Letter "X" (XP), to the vaguely multi-cultural (Vista). The problem with Apple's Roman Numerals is that they never make it look like Roman Numerals. There aren't any darn horizontal bars on the top and bottom.
