Tech > June Deadline for Buying Windows XP

After June, you won't be able to buy a Windows XP license anymore. There's a petition to cajole Microsoft into keeping it alive longer. Via Insty.

Meanwhile, Windows 7 is on the horizon to replace Windows Vista. I liked this Slashdot comment:

They went from 3.11, to year-based (98), to cheesy acronyms (ME), to acronyms containing the Mighty Letter "X" (XP), to the vaguely multi-cultural (Vista). Now they're going back to whole numbers. All the joy of 3.11, half the perfomance.

They haven't really cribbed Apple's Roman Numeral approach, so let's work with that. Vista...VII-STA...VII: Something To Avoid.

The problem with Apple's Roman Numerals is that they never make it look like Roman Numerals. There aren't any darn horizontal bars on the top and bottom.

Well, people who perform acts of software piracy can feel justified in that they are unable to buy Windows XP.

*shrug* I guess I'm twisted. I don't get all the Vista hatred. *shrug* But then again, I also don't expect a seven year old computer to be worth a damn, so ...
