East Tennessee > Kern's Bread TV Commercial Lyrics

Brian Lee commented on this thread recalling the Kerns TV commercial lyrics:

Here's what i know from a talent show skit i did as a kid back then in boy scouts. Grew up here in East Tn. and heard the commercial often. We may have changed some of it for the skit. And also I've slept since then so here goes......

Well i was ridin' high up north of Pine knot
Had a road full of holes like to bust my shocks
Had a Kerns bread eighteen wheeler
tryin to jump'em all day hoppin' like a rabbit.

Had a load of white & had a load of wheat
They was guaranteed fresh and ready to eat
At the Mama Kerns Filler up and keep on truckin' cafe. Bread City

Well i parked myself and got a load of the waitress
She was stacked like a truck and her name was Mavis
And i ordered up a half dozen slices of Kerns fresh white guaranteed enriched.

Well she smiled at me and leaned over and said
"What you gonna have to go with your bread.
We gotta Mama Kerns truck drivers special
that you oughtta try (Not sure about this part) I said "what is it".

She said "It's a side of fries and a chicken fried steak
Piece of Kerns pie and a chocolate shake
and it's a bargain at a buck 28
and that includes tax" I said "I'll take it".

Well i finished up my special and i wiped her
dry but before i left i left a load of rye
at the Mama Kerns filler up and keep ontruckin'cafe.
[Yeah Kerns is good bread]
(And of course we changed the ending to)
Mavis has good buns

Forget Kern's. WHAT WERE THE WORDS TO THE FRIGGIN' BURGER QUEEN SONG!? The tune, and "follow Queenie Bee, a burger dum dum dum" pops into my head ALL THE FRIGGIN' TIME. I'm sure it will stop once I finally know all the words. Please please make the voices go away, Les Jones and/or readers of Les Jones Blog.

And didn't Burger Queen become Druther's? How did that song go?

Mumble mumble mumble I want
I'd ruther go to Druther's Restaurant
